11 Fakta Dinosaurus Quetzalcoatlus


Quetzalcoatlus adalah seekor Pterosaur, sekaligus hewan terbang terbesar dalam sejarah. Lebar sayap yang terbesar sepanjang 12 meter (sebesar pesawat bermesin propeler). Kehidupannya kira-kira di sekitar pantai, karena bentuk paruhnya yang memungkinkan untuk menangkap ikan.
Beberapa fakta Quetzalcoatlus  adalah sebagai berikut:
  1. Memiliki paruh yang sangat panjang dan runcing.
  2. Quetzalcoatlus memiliki mahkota, namun bentuk dan ukuran pastinya belum diketahui.
  3.  Fosil pertama reptil penerbang raksasa ini ditemukan di Texas, USA, pada 1971.
  4.  Awalnya Quetzalcoatlus diperkirakan berjalan tegak, dengan sayap yang terlipat di belakang. Namun saat ini diyakini bahwa ia berjalan dengan kaki dan sayapnya.
  5. Panjang leher Quetzalcoatlus mencapai 2, 4 m.
  6. Hewan ini tinggal di pedalaman dan kemungkinan mencari makanan di danau dan sungai.
  7. Pemakan bangkai.
  8. Tulang kaki depan Quetzalcoatlus juga lebih panjang daripada pterosaurus lainnya. Jadi, meskipun ia tidak dapat berlari, ia adalah pejalan kaki yang gesit.
  9. Memiliki penglihatan yang tajam.
  10. Kaki Quetzalcoatlus yang bercakar menunjukkan bahwa ia hidup dalam kelompok seperti burung, yang menggantung ke sisi untuk bertengger.
  11. Tinggi Quetzalcoatlus 7 m.
