One way to maintain the health of hamster fur is to give special powder evenly to the body. Powder, medicines and treatment equipment can be obtained at petshop. Here's how to apply it.
- Sprinkle the powder on the back of the hamster.
- Spread evenly with all fingers.
- Turn the hamster's body so that its position is supine.
- Sprinkle the powder, then flatten again by hand.
- Trim your hair with a special comb for hamster hair.
- Give fish oil once a month. This has been tried and proven effective.
As for medicines that can be given to maintain the health of hamsters as follows.
- Eye drops, to treat hamsters suffering from eye irritation due to wood shavings.
- Alcohol, to clean wounds.
- Mild antiseptic, a mixture of Dettol and water used to wash the wound and bathe the hamster. However, do not dip the hamster in this solution, but enough to wipe it. Make it a habit to clean your hands before and after handling your hamster so that you and your pet hamster avoid disease.
