Tips Menjaga Kesehatan Bulu dan Tubuh Hamster


Salah satu cara menjaga kesehatan bulu hamster adalah dengan memberikan bedak khusus secara merata ke tubuhnya. Bedak, obat-obatan serta perlengkapan perawatannya bisa diperoleh di petshop. Berikut cara mengaplikasikannya:
  1. Taburkan bedak ke punggung hamster.
  2. Ratakan dengan jari tangan hingga ke seluruh bulunya.
  3. Balikkan tubuh hamster agar posisinya terlentang.
  4. Taburkan bedak, lalu ratakan kembali dengan tangan.
  5. Rapikan rambut dengan sisir khusus bulu hamster.
  6. Berikan minyak ikan sebulan sekali. Hal ini telah dicoba dan terbukti ampuh.

Adapun obat-obatan yang bisa diberikan untuk menjaga kesehatan hamster sebagai berikut.
  1. Obat tetes mata, untuk mengobati hamster yang menderita iritasi mata akibat serutan kayu.
  2. Alkohol, untuk membersihkan luka.
  3. Antiseptik ringan, berupa campuran Dettol dan air yang digunakan untuk membasuh luka dan memandikan hamster. Namun, jangan mencelupkan hamster ke dalam larutan ini, tetapi cukup dilap. Biasakan membersihkan tangan sebelum dan sesudah memegang hamster agar Anda dan hamster peliharaan Anda terhindar dari penyakit.
  4. Betadine, untuk mengobati hamster yang terluka dan berdarah. Caranya, bubuhkan betadine pada luka hamster, lalu keringkan sebelum hamster diletakkan di tempatnya.
  5. Antibiotik, seperti Baytrill atau Neomycin. Digunakan untuk mengobati hamster yang luka parah, terinfeksi, atau terserang flu yang parah. Umumnya, hamster alergi terhadap beberapa antibiotik, sehingga jangan sembarangan diberikan pada hamster antara lain Amoxycillin, Ampicillin, Carbenicillin, Cefoxitin, Cephalexin, Chloramphenicol, Clindamycin, Dihyrostreptomycin, Erythromycin, Gentamycin, Lincomycin, Penicillin, Streptomycin, Tetracyline, dan Vancomycin.
  6. Obat kutu khusus hamster. Bisa didapat di petshop.
